Paul de Benedictis Artist References:
Steve Vai: "The way most musicians write and record their music these days seems eons away from the way it used to be. In this rapidly changing world of technology there is always a learning curve when the artist decides to embrace a new technology or piece of equipment. And, there is nothing more distracting, annoying, and anti productive as not being able to get personal help from a particular company during that learning curve. When at Opcode, Paul had always shown me unconditional support and made himself available to me 24/7. When reaching out to him he was always patient, understanding and never made me feel as if I didn't have it together or he couldn't be bothered. I felt that he was truly concerned with making sure that I received all the help I needed to get through the confusing elements, and there's always a lot of those. I have always had a fond respect for him and feel that he would be a tremendous asset for any company in which personal communication with artists, clients, etc., was paramount."

Charlie Clouser: "I've known Paul personally and worked with him professionally for 16 years, from the early days of MIDI through the invention, at his company Opcode, of the Audio/MIDI sequencer, which revolutionized music production. I sold, used, suggested features for, and beta tested Opcode products, and went on to win a Grammy and a lot of platinum plaques with Opcode products. Until the sad demise of that unquestionably pioneering music technology company, Paul was my contact for all things professional. When I managed Sam Ash's 48th st. store's computer department in 1987-89, Paul saw to it that any artists who were our most valued customers always had special treatment, and could go "right to the company."
When I left retail and became a recording artist, Paul was an even more valuable contact. Throughout the making of the nine inch nails albums "Broken", "Fixed", "The Downward Spiral", and "The Fragile," Paul saw to it that all of our needs as artists were met; let's say we never lacked for key discs! He made sure that we were in the loop as far as new features and beta versions went, and really made us feel like priveleged customers. In my capacity as a recording artist, I have dealt with a lot of "artist reps" at music technology companies. There are very few I've known and worked with for as long as Paul, and even fewer that I'd take time to recommend. Paul deB is the real deal. Good choice.

Elliot Scheiner: "I've known Paul de Benedictis for many years and found him to be one of the most reliable guys in the industry. I've had to call on him quite a few times to coordinate some very tough events. He's never let me down."

Frank "Poncho" Sampedro: "I first met Paul in 1985 while I was preparing for a world tour with Neil Young & Crazy Horse. We needed assistance with sequencing and midi control. He arrived on the scene and made everything happen. Up until that point we only imagined all this equipment worked. He quickly had the gear working and upgraded, while making us feel comfortable with the new system. Over the past eighteen years I have called upon Paul many times for help and information. He is always up to date on what is going on in the audio industry, which has been a great benefit for me and all of the people I work with. Recently I was surprised to get a call from Paul saying he was coming down to the Tonight Show where I work with Kevin Eubanks. He was representing Euphonix and coming in to observe the use of the new Euphonix console the Tonight Show had just purchased. It was great to see Paul and know that the show was receiving his expert advice.
As a musician/tech I feel Paul has the skills to communicate on all levels in the music and audio industry. His down to earth no nonsense approach is just what is needed in an industry that is filled with misleading information and so many distractions. Paul is the kind of person I would want to work with and recommend for others to make sure I'm up on the latest audio technology."

Rich Tozzoli: "PDB is the kind of person you want on your team. I have always appreciated the fact that he constantly gave concise, straightforward answers to my technical questions. He would often go out of his way to help me out, even when I was first coming up 'the chain'. I don't forget those things."

Bryan Bell: "I have had the pleasure of working with Paul de Benedictis for almost 25 years. First in his capacity as a pioneer in electronic music publishing his synthesizer library sounds with my online music system, Synth-Bank(R) in the early eighties, then as the artist relations and marketing managers at Opcode Systems and Euphonix. Though my career of using high technology to support artistic endeavors of such greats as Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, INXS, Neil Young, Branford Marsalis (to mention but a few) Paul has been there with attentive support and excellent technical advice. One of my fondest memories of working with Paul was on the Apple 1990 Developers conference where we produced the music for the documentary film about Apple and MIDI. Paul brought the prototype for the first software that integrated multi-track digital audio with MIDI on the Macintosh and I brought my Synth-Bank online system and platinum award wining musicians to round out the project. It was truly a special moment in electronic music history. When it comes to working with computers and artists Paul de B "Gets It" and knows how to craft "Win-Win" relationships between his companies and the artists."
